About Centro Médico Menonita de Cayey

Founded in 1989, the Centro Médico Menonita de Cayey is a 262-bed teaching hospital with a medical tower housing 21 specialties. It is the only Center of Excellence in Bariatric Surgery in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, and Latin America accredited by the ASMBS, and its advanced cardiovascular program performed the island's first percutaneous mitral valve repair (MitraClip). Part of the Sistema de Salud Menonita — Sirviendo con amor cristiano.

Service notes — August 2026

  • Cirugía: Dr. Roqué no estará disponible del 10 al 16 de agosto. Nueva facultativa: Dra. Isabel Mayorga Pérez · 787-219-0199.
  • Urología: las consultas deben ser notificadas por el médico de sala de emergencias al urólogo antes de colocarlas en sistema o admitir al paciente. Verificar si el paciente tiene su propio urólogo para consultarle a su médico. Los Dres. Méndez y Ramos están disponibles todos los días exclusivamente para sus propios pacientes. Dr. Ramos de vacaciones hasta el 3 de agosto.
  • Neurología: consultas de hospitalizados solo lunes a jueves 08:00–16:00 y viernes 08:00–15:00. No se aceptan consultas de rutina fuera de horario, ni evaluaciones STAT nocturnas o de fin de semana; sí se discuten por teléfono etiologías tiempo-dependientes (estatus epiléptico, crisis miasénica, ictus hiperagudo, exacerbación de EM, síndrome neuroléptico maligno, infección aguda del SNC). Casos neuroquirúrgicos requieren evaluación de Neurocirugía confirmada primero.
  • Nefrología: el consultor de domingo cubre hasta las 5:00 PM. No se aceptan consultas de uropatía obstructiva sin urólogo manejando el caso. Pacientes trasplantados de riñón no deben admitirse aquí — refiéranse al Centro de Trasplante de Auxilio Mutuo.
  • Gastroenterología: los jueves el relevo ocurre a las 5:00 p.m.; ambos nombres aparecen listados ese día.
  • Intensivistas: entre semana se listan SICU y MICU por separado; los fines de semana un solo intensivista cubre ambas unidades.
  • Infectología: los días de semana se lista al grupo en cobertura; fines de semana un(a) infectólogo(a) de guardia.
  • Cardiología Intervencional: algunos domingos hay dos intervencionistas listados.
  • Cirugía Cardiotorácica: no se publicó calendario para agosto 2026.
